Projects
The members of the Process Mining Lab are or have been involved in several research projects that aims to revolutionize the way businesses approach process analysis and optimization.
Explora Process
The objective of the project is the definition and implementation of the "Explora Process" platform, i.e. a platform able to combine the traditional techniques of Process Analytics, Process Discovery, Process Mining, with the sophisticated algorithms of the Explora Text suite for semantic analysis, in order to obtain a “Semantic Process Analytics” platform. The "Explora Process" platform provides an integrated environment of process mining algorithms to analyze logs whose events can be classified with respect to a reference ontology, both manually or using, as a semi-automatic support, existing document classification tools. The platform is primarily based on the definition of a suitable knowledge representation and manipulation language to represent the concepts of interest and any ontological or execution constraints on them. It is also equipped with: (i) a reasoning engine that allows for the modeling of extraction and classification rules and, (ii) mining primitives for log analysis that exploit domain knowledge to produce more accurate analyses or even, simply, to optimize algorithm execution times. These log analysis primitives constitute an important middleware layer on which process mining algorithms are based, that is: algorithms for process discovery with domain constraints, algorithms for process clustering with domain constraints, algorithms for outlier detection with domain constraints.
